Just before the gang was transported to El-Hazard, Makoto had overheard that Jinnai bribed a lot of school clubs into voting him into the office of student council president. Jinnai confronted him late that night and suddenly was frozen. Something was calling Makoto into the ruins. A girl, Ifurita, said she had been waiting for him for a long time and she used the last of her power to transport him, and the others, to El-Hazard. Makoto gained the ability to communicate with machinery. A handy technique!

Both Nanami and Shayla-Shayla have a crush on him and Makoto looks identical to Fatora, a princess of Roshtaria. He agrees to dress like her to convince the alliance that both princesses are present and that the kingdom has power of the Eye of God.

Boy does this girl ever love making money! She even charged poor Fugisawa for the food she brought him before everyone was transported to El-Hazard!! She was reunited with Makoto and Fugisawa at the holy spring of Arlimon, where it was revealed to the preistesses that the fake Fatora was really a boy named Makoto!

She gained the ability to see through illusions. A technique that comes in very handy when dealing with the Phantom Tribe.

The chain smoking and heavy drinking gym teacher from Shinonome High School. Often made fun of by his students for drinking so much; he claims its for medicinial purposes. Matsamichi gained the ability to have super strength as long as he's sober. That makes things difficult at times.

He becomes the interest of Miz as soon as they run into each other in Arlimon. They eventually get married and a new priestess arrives to take her place, but thats another story.

Somehow Jinnai got it into his head that Makoto is his lifelong rival. He was trying to tie up Makoto so he couldn't spill the beans about Jinnai bribing the school clubs to get into office. When he was teleported to El-Hazard he ran into the Bugrum and discovered he had the ability to communicate with the Bugrum. Queen Diva believes Jinnai to be the one sent by god to lead the Bugrum to victory. A role Jinnai proudly takes on and usually is telling Diva what to do.

Jinnai even gains control of Ifurita, with the help of the Phantom Tribe. That makes things a little interesting.
